My wife and I have talked a lot lately about organization, mostly because she’s really good at it and me, not so much. I’ve decided to study about that today since I feel it will not only benefit me in my spiritual progression, but it will also help drastically in my day-to-day doings at work and with my calling.
One of the definitions of organization is:
an ordered manner; orderliness by virtue of being methodical and well organized;
In Abraham 4:1 it says “And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the a Gods , b organized and formed the c heavens and the earth.” The Plan of Happiness is a PLAN! The Gods set goals, have objectives, and are working to “bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.” (Mos. 1:39). D&C 104:11 says “It is wisdom in me; therefore, a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall organize yourselves and appoint every man his a stewardship ;”. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a perfect organization – each member having their stewardship.
D&C 88:74: “…a commandment that you assemble yourselves together, and organize yourselves , and prepare yourselves, and b sanctify yourselves; yea, purify your hearts, and c cleanse your hands and your feet before me, that I may make you d clean ;” What I get from this is that, one of the first steps in becoming like Jesus is to organize yourself, then prepare, then sanctify, then purify, then cleanse your hands and feet, then and only then will you be clean. So, without organization the rest of the steps in cleansing may not happen.
This scripture is a popular one for organization: “Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a b house , even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;” (D&C 88:119) As I cross reference this scripture, another phrase that appears is PREPARE! Preparation and Organization go hand in hand.
Here are a few scriptures I’m looking up on being prepared:
Mosiah 4: 6 atonement which has been prepared from the foundation of the world.
Alma 5: 28 stripped of pride . . . if ye are not ye are not prepared to meet God.
Alma 12: 24 life . . . a time to prepare to meet God.
D&C 38: 30 if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.
As I look at the context of these scriptures, I really like what Mosiah 4:6 says:
I say unto you, if ye have come to a a knowledge of the goodness of God, and his matchless power, and his wisdom, and his patience, and his long-suffering towards the children of men; and also, the b atonement which has been prepared from the c foundation of the world, that thereby salvation might come to him that should put his d trust in the Lord, and should be diligent in keeping his commandments, and continue in the faith even unto the end of his life, I mean the life of the mortal body—
Again, it’s an equation:
- come to a knowledge of the goodness of God: his atonement, which was prepared from the foundation of the world
- trust in the Lord
- be diligent in keeping the commandments
- continue in faith unto the end
- Mosiah 4:7: “I say, that this is the man who receiveth salvation , through the atonement which was prepared from the foundation of the world for all mankind, which ever were since the a fall of Adam, or who are, or who ever shall be, even unto the end of the world.
I’m grateful that Heavenly Father did have a Plan, that he did Prepare and Organize things from the beginning. For this reason, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is perfect; for this reason, this life is a perfect equation – if we do what God Commands, then we will be saved through the perfect atonement.
The truth is one eternal circle that is never ending!
Sincerely,
Nate
