Step 4 Section 6
If men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them” (Ether 12:27).
Apply this verse to your life by copying it and inserting your name as if the Lord were speaking directly to you. Write the thoughts that come into your mind about this scripture and its personal application.
If [Nate] comes unto me I will show [him his] weakness[es]. I give unto [Nate] weakness[es] that [he] may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for [Nate if he] humble[s] [himself] before me; for if [he] humble[s] [himself] before me, and has faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto [him].
The more I live, the more I recognize that I have LOTS of weaknesses, not just this addiction. I feel like I expect the world to revolve around me. I feel like it’s “my way or the highway”. I feel like I’m really proud and self-centered. I feel like I’m not that open to new ideas in some cases.
I feel “coming unto Christ” is a huge part of step 3 and 4 that I need to continue practicing and applying in my life. I can come unto Christ through fervent prayer, scripture study, studying the manual and answering the questions, and working with my sponsor. I can also come unto Him by serving my fellow brothers and sisters, including my family.
I feel, as I recognize my weaknesses and submit them to the Lord, He can and will make them become strong points in my life. I have to trust in the Lord.
I’m grateful to be working the program and understanding these key points of doctrine so much more in my life.
