We surely enjoyed conference. Since my wife and I watched it at home, we were able to pause it comment and discuss some of the things–especially feelings–the conference sparked.
I really found useful president Uchtdorf’s talks, president Monson’s gratitude talk, and elder Ballard’s addiction recovery.
It renewed in me the realization that recovery must be built upon the Solid Foundation, that recovery is spiritual and that only a power greater than myself–aka Jesus Christ and His atonement–can restore me to mental health. I almost cried when as I listened to elder Ballard’s talk. I felt that he wasn’t condemning that woman caught up in the vicious cycle of addiction, but he was feeling sorry for her. I felt he then tried to comfort all of us addicts and tried to give us a message of hope, centered in Jesus Christ.
Maurie and I always say the end of conference feels like December 26; it makes you say, “I can wait for the next time.”
