Step 8 – Forgiving & Forgiveness Continued

By N

Well, my mother-in-law just arrived. In the past this has been a “resentful time”. Not because I don’t love my mother-in-law, but mostly because I feel quite lonely. I sit here next to Becky and often times feel like a 3rd wheel.

The question I have to ask myself is, “What can I do to avoid these feelings or at least make the best of them?”

Today was a pretty good day. I caught myself going down the Facebook path quite a bit before it got close to a negative experience, which felt really good.

We’re all turning in now so this will be quick:

How is Jesus Christ the greatest example of the ability to forgive? Consider His willingness to help you forgive others.

We were just talking about this earlier. The main people Christ got angry with were the Pharisees who were judgmental. He was always so forgiving of the sinners who He often told to “Go and sin no more.”

He is also so forgiving of all of us. He pre-paid for all our sins, knowing that many of us would probably not use the Atonement the way we should or could. He knew this and paid the price anyway. And now he’s our biggest fan – He wants us to repent and use the Atonement so we can find true happiness.

The more I understand this concept, the easier it is for me to really seek to truly forgive others.

One thing I just did was start reviewing my inventory, especially the resentments. I’m excited and willing to talk with all those people if needed. I’m not sure HOW I’m going to do it, but I’m definitely willing and ready to get this portion of the program moving along.

Things I’m Grateful For

  • That I’m able to write about my feelings with my mother-in-law here
  • That today was a good day at work
  • That my quarterly review with Dane went well
  • That I got the proposal sent to DA
  • That Devin and I started the FSM site too
  • That I was able to go with the family to the Vineyard tonight

Hasta manana!

Nate
