Step 7 – Taking Upon Yourself the Name of Christ

By N

What do you need to do to be found at the right hand of God? What do you covenant to do when you are baptized and when you partake of the sacrament?

To be found at the right hand of God, I need want to lay aside my sins and submit to God 100%.

To be found at the right hand of God, I need want to put off the natural man.

To be found at the right hand of God, I need want to be more organized and less of a procrastinator.

To be found at the right hand of God, I need want to fear God more than man – not worry about what others are thinking so much.

To be found at the right hand of God, I need want to make sure I treat my children and wife the way God would want me to treat them: not overreact, not get resentful, always be willing to help.

I want to be able to bridle my passions.

I want to be able to be consistent in all the little, simple things: scripture study, personal prayer, serving others, working the program.

When I was baptized, I covenanted to take upon me the name of Christ, to always remember him, and to keep His commandments.

Like I learned the other day in my Primary Lesson, the “simple” things can be the hardest things to do for those who are not humble followers of Christ. All the people of Israel had to do was look and they would be saved; but some of them thought it was too easy and lacked the necessary faith to follow Moses the prophet.

Things I’m Grateful For Today

  • Eating out with my team at Tucanos
  • Having a fun night with the family and friends
  • Getting all the shoes to demo in the local area for teams
  • Getting the contract in place for VIQ and starting all that tomorrow
  • Being consistent in my writing in my journal & answering the questions
  • Talking with Becky tonight
  • Being led via an unusual pounding on the wall (wasn’t Caleb) to check on Caleb tonight, to find that he had a lamp on and it was really close to a blanket, which would have caused a fire. I don’t think this was a coincidence at all
  • Recognizing that I need to work hard on the little things to avoid falling back in to addictive behaviors: how much time I spend on Facebook, what I do with my spare time, etc.

Hasta luego!

Nate
