Well, I’ve done it – started my daily spiritual journal blog. I’ve talked about this for some time and, since I’m online all day every day, I’ve felt this was the best way to make each day a great one by starting it off focused on Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
I also feel this can be a great way to record my personal family history. Eventually I may even attempt to convince my wife to add her thoughts and testimony to the site as a “guest blogger”!
Here are my performance goals for this new idea:
- Make a new blog post 3+ days per week with a more long term goal of 5+ days per week.
- Make this the 1st thing I do when I get to work: Open LDS.org, select a topic to research, spend around 10-30 minutes studying, thinking, writing, and praying about this topic.
- Record my progress on a piece of paper at my desk
- I will NEVER make money from this blog – that is not its intent!
Others may come as I get in to this more.
My Testimony – 10.20.08
I know that only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ can I be saved. I know that Christ is the “way, the truth and the light”. I know that I have a lot to learn when it comes to understanding the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that I have the tools before me to do this: the Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ), the Bible, the Doctrine & Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and other Church related materials. I know that the Book of Mormon is “the most correct of any book on the face of the earth and the keystone of our religion”. I know that is truly is another testament of Jesus Christ, written for the people of our day. I know that missionary work is God’s work. I know I will be a missionary for my whole life and I am striving to “serve with honor”.
I love my wife and children. I know that I can be with them forever through the sealing covenants I’ve made in the temple. I know that I have to make the basic principles of the Gospel the top priority in my life or I will not maximize my potential as a son of God here on Earth. There are too many things that can distract me if I’m not focused on the main goal of this life: to bring to pass the imortality and eternal life of man. (Moses 1:39).
I’m grateful for my testimony and plan to share it with all I come in contact with. I love my Savior and want to get to know Him better by studying his words, by praying to my Father, by asking the right questions, and by seeking to strengthen my testimony every day!
I’m excited to really make this an integral part of my spiritual progression!
Sincerely,
Nate

It’s interesting to read this post, now about a year and a half later.
I’ve not done as well as I would have liked to with the performance goals I set, although I have made specific spiritual goals in May 2010 to write in my journal at least 20 times (in April I only wrote 12 times). I’m on my way to accomplishing that goal.
Currently I’m on Step 6 (just finishing it) and beginning Step 7 today. I’m working with my sponsor, Jason M. and that has been really helpful. I’m also a sponsor for two people, Raul T. and Devin C. Being able to be there for others has really helped me in the progress too I feel.
I may invite them to contribute to this blog. It was interesting because at our last meeting Raul mentioned something about creating a blog where we could do that. I didn’t tell him at the time that I’d been doing that but will wait until the time is right to do so.
I really feel writing things out, my feelings, my trials, my successes, etc., has been a huge step in my recovery.
CONSISTENCY in the small things is the key!
