It’s late. I’m tired. But the Yankees won!
I had a decent day today. The hardest part of the day was meeting Becky and the kids and Seven Peaks, but I felt I did pretty good and worked hard to submit my will and keep my chin up.
I didn’t get to answer a question today but did meet with Jason.
Some of the things we talked about in our meeting:
- How to be an effective sponsor
- The addiction cycle (he’s going to send me some information on this)
- Consistency and how that’s an important part of many things in our lives
- How the program is helping me learn how to use the Atonement in my life more frequently
- How I can be even more consistent with the little things
- Step 7 and Humility
I really appreciate Jason and the time he gives to help me work on the steps and be accountable.
One thing we talked about as well was a strategy his sponsor in Mesa uses when he begins working with new people.
He has them send him an email for 2-3 weeks in a row, answering one of the questions from the Steps – starting with Step 1. If they can be consistent and show their commitment to really work the steps, he starts working with them as a sponsor. I really like this approach because to me, it’s like what Heavenly Father has done with us by sending us to this world. We’re here to be tested to see if we’ll do what He has asked us to do: love Him and keep His commandments – be CONSISTENT!
I’m not sure how I can implement this with the guys I’m sponsoring but I really like the concept moving forward. I feel sponsorship is a commitment to make necessary changes; it’s stepping out of my comfort zone.
I’m grateful for all the things I’m learning about life and how the Atonement has to be an integral part of every aspect of it.
Hasta Luego!
Nate
