Well, the day started off pretty well today. I started with prayer, got up and showered, and then went to meet Russ P. to talk about doing some sales and management work for their company. I feel good about the options and am going to move forward with it.
I also followed up with Tory and told her I was working on things. I need to make sure and stay on top of that account.
Today I’m going to make some time to study from President Eyring’s talk about trusting in God and then going and doing.
God sends messages and authorized messengers to His children. I am to build trust in God and His servants enough that we will go out and obey His counsel. He wants that because He loves us and wants our happiness. And He knows how a lack of trust in Him brings sadness.
I know God wants what’s best for me. I’ve seen it in the opportunities that have come up since I left PR in November of 2010. CF is an example of one of those blessings. I don’t know HOW I got that account but it seemed to just fall into my lap and has been a big blessing.
AA and AD have been big blessings too.
This meeting with Russ today was also a blessing. For some reason I feel better about working with Russ right now than I do in working with MS and AM. I’m not sure if it’s a pride thing, a confidence thing, or what, but it just seems like a better fit right now.
“I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” 5
This reminds me of the scripture I found in the temple that day. I had to put my trust in God then to “leave the land of my inheritance and go to a better place…” It’s still requiring trust since I’m not always sure what’s going to happen from day to day (and I don’t always ask and seek enough to get the answers that are probably there waiting for me).
How Can I Put My Trust More in God?
I feel there are a few ways I can put my trust in God:
- Praying more frequently: through prayer, I’m saying “Heavenly Father, I know you’re there and I know I need your help in ALL things. Please help me to do thy will.”
- Studying the words of the prophets, both ancient and modern: if I really trust in God, I’ll seek his guidance in the scriptures and words of the prophets. These words will “tell me all things what I should do.”
- Acting promptly on impulses to do good: as I have impulses to serve others, I need to act on them and not doubt or think, “I can do that later…” The more I act on these impulses, the more I get them and the more Heavenly Father will trust me.
I know these things, now I need to see that I DO THEM. And do them CONSISTENTLY!
Hasta manana!
Nate
