The Next Perfect Day

By N

Yesterday I worked hard to have a perfect day. I set an ideal schedule the day before and did everything I could to follow it yesterday.

It went pretty well. The one issue I had was when Beck was at BYU teaching and I was home with the kids – sometimes their obedience, or lack there of, is a bit tough to handle and I got a little frustrated. But overall the day went really well.

What I realized today was that my “perfect day” schedule was only for Monday, Wednesday and Friday (sort of). So I need to make a map for my Tuesday/Thursday.

What I think will be better is to make a map for each day, maybe based on the schedule I already know that I have.

Maybe even a better strategy is to think about today, how it went, and then set my schedule for tomorrow and how I can make it a perfect day.

Anyway, here is my projections for tomorrow:

  • Wake up at 5:40 a.m.
  • Say a personal prayer
  • Study the scriptures and journal
  • Say a personal prayer again
  • Go play basketball until 7:30ish
  • Come home and shower/shave/get dressed
  • Eat breakfast with the family
  • Watch Mormon Messages
  • Family prayer
  • Send the kids to school
  • Sales Time:
    • Set sales goals for the month
    • Work on 4 proposals
    • Make 3 sales calls
    • Send 5 sales emails
    • Follow up with 5 proposals
  • Management Time:
    • Review status of current projects
    • Make sure projects are moving as they should
    • Process payroll
    • Follow up with current clients to make sure things are good
  • Lunch with BNI Presidency
  • Work on proposals more
  • Work on Karen Pool project (30 minutes)
  • Work on BDT (30 minutes)
  • Work on Utah Bravo (30 minutes)
  • Invoice for all this work
  • Webelos
  • Go to Costco with Beck
  • Get mail
  • Dinner
  • Play with kids
  • Get kids ready for bed
  • Review day
  • Read from manual (30 minutes)
  • Work on inventory
  • Read with Becky
  • AEIOUY’s
  • Family Prayer
  • Go to bed

So this is my day tomorrow. I feel writing this out is kind of doing Step 10, especially as I think about today and what I did, what I thought, what I felt and what I thought about.

One of the topics I wanted to study about was SUBMISSION, or being submissive.

Here are some scriptures that stuck out to me as I looked in the topical guide:

  •  Submit yourselves therefore to God: James 4:7
  • learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God: 2 Ne. 9:29
  • willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict: Mosiah 3:19
