My Gratitude Journal – Day 41

By N

Today went pretty well. It’s the last day of the Christmas vacation for the kids, so they were pretty crazy. Since they’ve been getting to bed late, they have been pretty whiny and not always with the best attitude. This has been a challenge for me to keep my composure and not lose it on them. I feel today went pretty well for the most part.

One funny thing that happened, I guess you can call it funny. I was taking a nap and had just woken up. J comes into my room and has something all over his hands and face. It’s bright pink. I can’t tell what it is and he’s asking where Mom is. So we come out to the living room and I see fingernail polish on the living room floor – bright pink polish.

Beck is sleeping on the couch. We both handle things pretty well, don’t overreact, and get it all cleaned up.

Tonight we also worked as a family to get the Christmas tree undecorated and taken down. This was the first year we had a real tree because we’re here in Utah instead of going back to visit family in Wisconsin. It was nice to be home, decorate our own place, and do what we wanted to do when we wanted to do it.

I’d say the highlight of our vacation was creating a bucket list together of things we wanted to do. We wrote it on the white board and looked at it every so often to see where we were. We got all but one of the things done on the list and did a few others that weren’t on the list.

I’m grateful for my family.

I’m grateful we had a good holiday together.

I’m grateful to be in recovery today.

I’m grateful to get to bed at a fairly decent hour tonight.

I’m grateful we don’t have church tomorrow until 1:00.

I look forward to talking to Becky now about our day.

Hasta manana!

Nate
