The Gratitude List – Day 1

By N

Today has been a pretty good day overall. I’m a bit frustrated right now due to kids quarreling and not obeying but I can imagine how Heavenly Father feels with me after what I put him through.

I liked what Pres. Uchtdorf talked about in conference yesterday – gratitude – and how it can help me overcome selfishness and anger. So I thought I’d start a routine of creating a Gratitude list. Here’s to Day 1!

What I’m thankful for today!

  • Working on a step of the program
  • Playing with the kids
  • Talking to Brett about a new website deal
  • Talking to the new counselor about recovery
  • Staying sober another day
  • Taking down the wire fence
  • Taking out the garbages
  • Getting three ClogOn return checks written
  • Getting an email from Ben Nettesheim about PPC
  • Being able to refer Russ and hopefully work something out
  • Submitting another article to BR at VT
  • Getting closer with B Jensen’s site
  • Mapping out my month monetarily
  • Taking the time to write this stuff out
  • Reaching out to my home teaching companion and families to schedule an appointment
  • The nice weather
  • Trying to talk with B about what the counselor and I talked about
  • Automated payment went through for Phil
  • UB listed me as a great partner on their website
  • We had family night in front of the new Provo Center Street temple (not done yet but Moroni is now on the top)
  • The kids got to Facetime with Grandma and Grandpa’s yesterday and today
  • B and I had a good talk last night – although I touched on a couple things that made her upset both yesterday and today – didn’t mean to
  • Taxes are almost done
  • Got a hold of both home teaching families
  • Taking the time to work on this list of things I’m grateful for
  • C had a good time at baseball practice
  • B & C talked about sex a bit during family night
  • B making a lunch/dinner for us to go to family night
  • B getting to talk with her mom today
  • B making me breakfast
  • B helping with all the tax stuff and getting that squared away
  • B understanding when I was a bit frustrated with the kids
  • B meeting me at Walmart
  • Going to bed before 10:00 p.m. with B
  • B loves me (she wrote that one) 🙂
  • I love B!
  • B being hopeful for me to get over my addictions
  • Playing soccer with C, C and J at BYU in the gym
  • That B and I talked about Wi time and how we can limit that without causing too much contention

I’m contemplating doing step 10 here too – listing things I could work on or things that went well (since the gratitude list is sort of this anyway). I won’t do it today but will talk about it more and hopefully add this to my nightly routine.

Hasta manana!

Nate
