Well, today was my oldest son’s 10th birthday. In fact, he was born in about a half hour from now 10 years ago. Crazy!
It was a fun day for all of us. I got up and played ball at 6:15 until 7:30 then went to the Dug Out to get him one of their classic cinnamon rolls. We made him bacon in the microwave and sang to him in bed with breakfast.
At 11:30 Becky, Chloe, Jayden, and I picked him up at school and took him to lunch at Wendy’s where he got his favorite sandwich- the Baconator.
After school we had Webelos, where we served cake for everyone and sang to him again.
Then at 5:00 we went to the trolley for dinner – his favorite wings. We opened some presents there too.
Finally, tonight, he and I went to the BYU vs Utah basketball game. It was a close game but ultimately BYU got cold and couldn’t hit shots – they lost at home 65-61. First time in about 10 years that the U has beat them at home.
But, overall, the day was good. When we got to the game I said a personal prayer to submit my will, watch my thoughts and eyes, and help me not look below the chin or lust. I’m grateful to say that due to this submission, I was successful and the game went great.
Thinking about my step work today, this is one of those examples of how Christ is changing me. There’s no way in the past that I could have done this or even had the desires to do this. I would have just justified or talked myself out of the chin up approach.
But today I want to be clean. Today I want to refrain from addictive behaviors that lead to addictive actions. Today I’ve been willing to submit and surrender.
I’m grateful that I closed another bigger deal today for MM. I also closed a smaller deal for FS and deposited money for LI too.
I’m grateful that I was aware of my feelings in the morning and that Becky was so understanding and calm with me. What a blessing she is in my life. I never ever want to hurt her again.
I’m grateful that Caleb is my boy and that our relationship seems to be getting better everyday. Today after Webelos I played catch with he and Connor, which they both seemed to really like. I like that he and I have been able to talk about feelings and emotions too and work together to not overreact as much.
I’m grateful that I’m half way to my financial goal for the month.
I’m grateful that I’m preparing to launch my first PPC campaign for MM.
I’m grateful to have Stan as a mentor and friend.
I’m grateful to have gotten some exercise today – it had been too long. I hope to play on Friday too.
I’m grateful to have good friends from BNI and elsewhere to help me get projects done.
I’m grateful to be going to bed now and hope things go well with the AA transfer tonight.
I look forward to another day of submission tomorrow.
Hasta mañana.
Nate
